Some frequently asked questions... Why can't I pick up or return a motorcycle on a Sunday or Monday? A:
rentamotorcycle operating hours are aligned with Motorrad Central
(Scotland) Ltd., to ensure full dealer backup is available to customers
picking up and returning our machines. Operating hours have been
amended to cater for customer demand with Saturday morning pick-ups and
returns now being available. A: The minimum age you must be is 25 years Why do you require a security/excess deposit and why so much? A: Unfortunately this is something our insurance cover stipulates and is beyond our control. What documents do you require to enable me to rent a motorcycle? A: We require to see your driving licence plus 2 other forms of recognised i.d. eg: passport and utility bill (no more that 3 months old). If not resident in the UK, passport and credit card in addition to your driving licence is fine. In any event, at least one form of i.d must carry a (recognisable) photograph of you. Is the Sat Nav covered by the insurance? A:
No, due to the nature of the equipment, sat navs are not covered by the
insurance. If you lose it, have it stolen or break it, you have to pay
for the replacement. This is currently around £645... so do not leave it on an unattended motorcycle. Can I take one of you motorcycles to the Isle of Man, Ireland, Europe? A:
No.
Our motorcycles can only be used on the UK mainland and the Scottish
Islands. My friends and I are wanting to organise a group holiday on your motorcycles, can we rent a number of machines from you? A: Short answer is yes, depending on the size of the party. Please e-mail us with your requirements. What protective clothing do you recommend I have? A: It is a legal requirement in the UK to wear a crash helmet, so this is the absolute minimum. We do recommend you have a windproof & waterproof jacket, good quality leather gloves. (Some of our bikes are fitted with heated grips, to keep your hands warm when required) and stout boots or shoes. Preferably all clothing should be of the type specifically designed for motorcycling with approved protection fitted. Remember - you can never be too well protected!!! Do you rent out helmets? A: No. Our customers have no problems in bringing their own gear. Alternatively, we have a range of helmets available to buy. Can I rent any other protective clothing? A: No, though we do have a range of clothing - jackets, trousers, gloves, boots etc., available to buy. Can I bring my own motorcycle luggage? A:
Yes... but why? |

Touring Scotland for the first time? Whilst we are in the business of renting motorcycles and not a tour company, we do have a wealth of experience riding motorcycles and touring around Scotland (and beyond). We are happy to assist our customers with suggestions as to routes to suit their requirements, whether they be for Hills & Glens, Lochs or Sea lochs, Lowlands or Highlands etc. Remember in Scotland an A-Class road can be anything from a well maintained dual carriageway to a single track road with passing places and cattle grids. For a modest additional cost you can have the services and company of a two-wheeled guide for part of your tour. Let us know what you require. e-mail: enquiry For pictures of the bikes you could be riding and where you might be touring, have a look at our Gallery. For those travelling from outwith the U.K. you might want to have a look at some general information and tips |
